Hi, I'm aware that the amount that inheritance tax is paid on is reduced by the charitable donations made in a will, but is there any possibility to offset charitable donations made before someone dies? Many thanks

Gifts to charity are not covered by the 7 year rule so will drop out of your estate immediately. Gifts to charity in your will can also reduce the rate of IHT paid on the rest of the estate providing the gift is 10% or more of the estate value.1

Mmm, might be wrong, but my thinking is, say you give £50k to charity, you save £10k IHT but reducing estate by £50k, meaning less for beneficiaries.0
