Hi Im trying to register a LPA with lloyds bank for my 95 yr old mother as i need to change her address, she cant do it herself as she has moved to a care home and is not capable. She has had the account for over 30 yrs in her name and now the account is showing her maiden name for some reason and they wont accept my LPA as its not the same name as on the account now. On checking previous bank statements the correct name was showing up to Dec 2021 then for some unknown reason jan 2021 statement onwards shows her maiden name. She didnt ask the bank to change it and no one will talk to me about it to check why this happened because i havent got the LPA registered! So i cant register her address change or anything. They give advice what they cant do and no one has any advice how to sort this, maybe someone has had this before or offer advice what i can do? Thanks!

Forget about the LPA. Print a complaint and get it signed by her. Enclose some confirmation of the facts you mentioned here. Post to Lloyds Bank, Customer Services, BX1 1LT2

Do you have her marriage certificate? Possibly taking that in with the LPA docs may prove useful, shows the bank that it's the same lady? Also if you have bank statements from them in both her names, showing the account number is the same then surely they'd need to conclude it's one and the same lady?1

They told me to write a letter (as above) but in the end they sent me a pre-printed form and reply paid envelope which just needed the relevant details added and posted back.I would +1 to the idea of her making a complaint (in writing) about the change of name. Ask them to explain why they changed the name they are using for her. (Is it possible she did ask them, but has forgotten about it?)0

Thanks for the replies, There is no way she would have contacted the bank to change names, I think sending a letter in may be the way to go , I have consecutive bank statements showing the 2 different names , I want to register her new address but need the correspondence to come to my address to deal with it for her , I think I will get a letter drafted out , get her to sign and send in. If I can't sort it I will open her a new account as her LPA with TSB which is recommended on thr site.0
