Thanks for the post Janusdesign. It would be nice if Moneyhub were able to find a third party to takeover their app.

I do think the annual fee structure would need to be markedly higher than present for a new host to find it economically viable to take it over. I think I might even tolerate a degree of targeted advertising to retain the app.

On that basis I think I will reach out to Moneyhub and suggest they conduct a survey of existing users to ascertain what level of revised fees would be acceptable to keep the app in play.

This might give Moneyhub a better chance to make a realistic to pitch to potential suitors, if the subscription fee  more fairly reflects the quality of the app offering. On reflection their £1.49 monthly tariff is peanuts for what we are getting.

Yes, I think I would be willing to pay more for Moneyhub (maybe £5 a month?) if it was actively maintained and developed. There are a number of areas (such as reporting and charting) where functionality could be improved on what is already a solid product.

Not really, with the number of accounts that they can sync without intervention shrinking all the time that subscription is becoming less value all the time.

Over 50% of my accounts no longer sync without intervention, if at all. All have been reported and all just get an "oh well" response and they may fix it sometime in the future.

Unless you are only wanting to work with accounts which are fully open banking I wouldn't bother. The dashboards are no where near as good as the Money Dashboard was which unfortunately disappeared a few years ago now.

Surprisingly there really isn't a good offering out there these days.

I didn't like it when I was looking for an alternative to MoneyDashboard when it closed but I haven't checked it out recently so I don't know if it has improved.

"intervention" as you call it is usually just entering the OTP when refreshing the connection - hardly an onerous task... I expect those connections don't support open banking and therefore MH needs to login, scrape the content of the page and parse the results back to MH - i'm not sure what you expect MH to do if that's the only way they/yodlee can get the balances etc ?!? i've never had to do that for any linked current account connections, but I guess it might be annoying/unlucky if your regularly used savings accounts need constant manual refreshing - not the end of the world, but annoying none the less.

personally, i've got 100+ accounts in MH (current, savings, business, investments, cash, utilities, property etc) - the important ones all refresh without any intervention - and those that do need my involvement (19 accounts - probably only 5 or 6 connections) I can do at the weekend; the purely manual ones (50+) can get reconciled as and when.

I use an excel spreadsheet to detail/reconcile my monthly interest amounts - but the thought of using a spreadsheet to give me a live snapshot of all my account balances fills me with absolute dread and would only be considered as a last resort!

Spot of good news from Moneyhub. See below extract of an email I received yesterday -

'We have exciting news about your Moneyhub service!

Since launching in 2014, Moneyhub has helped thousands of people manage their financial well-being. As we now focus on supporting enterprise businesses, we've found the perfect partner to take over the Moneyhub app and continue serving customers like you.

Meet WPS Advisory, an existing Moneyhub client who runs a successful white-label version of our app technology called LifeStage. They share our commitment to protecting your data and won't try to sell you unnecessary products.

    What's changing:

    •        WPS Advisory will manage your app going forward
    •        Same Moneyhub platform underneath with familiar features
    •        Your historical data and connections will be preserved
    •        Bonus: Over the coming months, you’ll get access to premium features including document storage, enhanced modellers, and optional financial advice during a trial period

    How it works:

Starting mid-July, you'll see a simple migration screen when you log in. You can choose to migrate and keep your account with WPS Advisory or export your data if you prefer not to continue.

    For subscription users:

We will honour the full term of every user's subscription, ensuring you receive the service you subscribed for. If you don't migrate before your current subscription expires, we'll notify you and help you export your data before account deletion.

    For trial users:

If you don't migrate or log in before the end of August, we'll notify you and offer data export before account deletion.

Don't worry - we'll send multiple reminders, and you can export your data and delete your account anytime if you prefer.

We're confident you'll love the service with WPS Advisory. The entire Moneyhub team will be moving their personal accounts there too!

Thank you for your support over the years - you've helped shape a product that transforms financial lives.

    The Moneyhub team'

I was a user of MoneyHub and had (reluctantly) moved to WPS Advisory. Loads of issues with it so far and the responses to issues was poor (to put it mildly). As a still paid up member of MoneyHub there was no indication as to how much WPS is going to cost either.

I've had no issues so far with the migration. Everything works exactly the same as before and I quite like the new colour scheme.

Let's hope some investment is finally put into the product. I do find it useful but there are a number of improvements which could be made. Their problem will be persuading enough people to pay for the service to make it viable long term.

what issues are you running into ? for me, everything that worked at Moneyhub is working with WPS.

one new issue is that one of my connections (the most important one!) won't refresh, and i've reported that to both WPS and MH (in passing) - though I guess it's WPS job now to resolve.

there is a slight mystery as to who is going to handle previous connection issues - Moneyhub seem to want me to continue discussing/testing those issues with them (happy to do that), whereas WPS are unsure who should be handling them... no big deal, but would be good to know which of them should be.

with regards to pricing, AFAIK, it's remained the same - £1.49 per month, or £14.99 per year.

WPS LifeStage Money on the App Store
Once your trial, or your advice service provided by WPS Advisory, ends you can choose to continue your membership for just £1.49 per month or £14.99 per year. We charge for WPS LifeStage Money because you are the customer – not the product.
i'll decide about renewing at the end of March, but so far i've seen nothing that would prevent me from renewing for another year.
