Representing a Landmark Case: Vehicle Control Services Ltd v Carr (CA-2024-001179)
I’m honored to share that I’ll be representing a client in this pivotal Court of Appeal case, which is set to establish a significant precedent for the parking industry and the legal sector.
In line with the Court of Appeal’s commitment to transparency, this case has been selected for live-streaming. This initiative mirrors the UK Supreme Court’s practice, allowing the public to observe high-profile and legally significant cases in real-time.
📅 Date: 04/03/2025

The live stream will focus on the judicial bench and counsel seating, with a brief time delay to ensure compliance with reporting restrictions. This is a rare opportunity to witness the justice system in action and engage with its processes.
I’m excited to contribute to this important case and look forward to your support.

For those who don't know, AIUI the background is:
- residential case, new resident, allocated space I think;
- defendant tried & tried to get a permit - reportedly fobbed off by VCS (the initial judgment from the CoA above says that VCS said "not our problem!" and slapped with multiple PCNs ... so hopefully the CoA will touch on that in the main hearing);
- VCS got a £10k judgment by default;
- Defendant got the writ stayed and CCJ set aside, so that they could defend;
- VCS appealed and WON in front of a circuit Judge, as happens all too often when a PPC throws a barrister and money at it (think of the horrific/clueless injustice seen OPS v Wilshaw);
- Jackson Yamba / Contestor Legal applied to the COURT OF APPEAL and got permission to appeal this; hence this hearing;
- see first summary by the CoA in the link: they have already been heavily critical of the Circuit Judge who didn't mention the Overriding Objective or the interests of justice (and arguably had no reason to overturn the first judgment allowing the set aside);
Not sure what time it starts?
I'm out on Tuesday so hopefully can watch it afterwards (maybe someone can upload it here if watching it back requires a different link).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I tried to find it on the link, but although it ended up landing on You Tube , I couldn't find it on the list
Tried another link and found this

I hear them mention that it was his address on his driving licence, but I would surmise that they mean his V5c log book.
Interesting to see Jackson Yamba in court, plus I hear mention of Judge Iyer as well as Judge Evans3 -
Typical VCS/Excel they indicate they will try and attempt to appeal this to the Supreme court
I cant see this being allowed as its a matter on arguable points of law of general public importance

Well, Jackson didn’t have to do much as VCSs barrister managed to dig his own hole. The Judges retired to consider their decision based solely on VCSs barristers submission which was rightly questioned. Now costs have to be agreed.
Typical of VCS to instruct that this decision will be to appeal to the SC. Let’s see if that is accepted. Their argument appears to be very weak.5
