Just switched but would like to switch to a different provider

After waiting in vain for an offer from my current provider, Octopus (through MyLondonPower) I switched to E-ON Next a few hours ago.
I would have rather chosen Ecotricity but the option had disappeared from CheapEnergyClub so I assumed it was not available any more.

However, out of curiosity I went to their site and they are offering me a 12 month fixed, very similar to the E-ON one, with the advantage of green energy and slightly lower cancellation penalty.

How do I proceed to switch to them and why was this tariff not in the CEC site?

You contact your new supplier and ask to switch to them, although Im not sure if the "guidelines" say you have to be with a provider a set number of days or the switch will fail. Others may know.

If applied to switch a few hours ago contact  Eon Next as them to cancel switch, ask Octopus/Eon Next if you can them apply straight away to different provider/

check whether you'll have an early termination fee before you do it to avoid a surprise charge although you've usually got a cooling off period before the transfer actually happens.

However if you cancel EoN you'll probably be returned to your existing supplier so trying to change to a third supplier whilst a transfer is in progress could cause you all manner of grief as the system isn't geared up for chopping and changing.

I'd suggest that you really need to wait until either the transfer to EoN is complete  or cancel the switch and then wait until you've been returned back to Octopus before trying to move to Ecotricity.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers
  • MSE's Cheap Energy Club is supposed to show tariffs from across the market (aka "whole of market"), so it seems odd that this Ecotricity tariff was apparently absent from the results - is it a very new tariff I wonder?
