Samsung wi-fi not working

Options
hi i have a problem with Samsung z fold smartphone wi-fi not working. this coincide with a update 6.1.1 at the same time. i followed advice on to reset wi-fi, wipe cache partition, factory reset. i booked a repair appointment to be told that i needed a screen replacement, this was without even able to do a diagnostic test & the cost £499. I was also told by the assistant it would be cheaper to purchase a new those were my options offered by the repair center. After more research i have discovered there is more people out there with the same problem  with no wi-fi connection & that the wi-fi cable is the cause. The cost of the wi-fi cable is £10 a bit of a difference of £499. they are saying on line this is a design fault Samsung are aware of yet doing nothing about it. i have tried to claim from my house insurance however they have said if its a hardware/software issue then they will not cover it. I purchased my z fold in December 2021 & within 9 months the screen had to be replaced due to a crack screen down the center, which was something Samsung were also aware of. since that issue i have had not problem with this phone till start of February 2025. yes i am aware its out of warranty however when my home insurance will not cover it cause i haven't accidentally damage it & its a known design issue from the start i wrote a letter to the Samsung head offices in Surrey UK on 8th February 2025 & still waiting a response. So is there anything else i can do to get this resolved as at the moment i feel disappointed i have a phone that feels ancient yet only 3 years old. thanks for any replies.

You may not get many responses because that's quite a wall of text to plough through.

Who did you buy the phone from?  Your consumer rights lie with the retailer (which may be Samsung if you bought directly from them).

If you can prove it's an inherent problem and not one caused by misuse or wear and tear, the retailer should provide a resolution.  For a three year old phone that will probably be a partial refund.  What's a three year phone of that type worth?

Can't you just pay a local phone repair place to replace the £10 wifi cable?  That would surely be quicker than easier than having it inspected and having to go through weeks of correspondence and perhaps court action to get the retailer to resolve it?
  • Hi Aylesbury_Duck unfortunately all repair outlets from Samsung to online/ high street will only quote for a screen replacement which is £499 upwards. going on the current price to sell this phone is £200 in good condition and when i tick the box whats wrong the price comes back zero. this why i feel i am in no man lands Samsung will only replace screen costing £499 house insurance will not except its damage. thanks for the consumer advice i will look into that.

Are you sure about all repair outlets?

A very quick Google brings up 'Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 5G Repair Wifi Repair Regular price £75.00' for example, among others.

Which model do you have, Z Fold 2 or Z Fold 3?

If it's Z Fold 3 you are correct that eBay prices for that phone in full working order are only about £200 now.
