    They would have sold any "live" accounts to another lender before then (and assigned the securities), but that (probably) didn't happen for your account as it was already closed. But that still leaves the security to be discharged.

    The Crown (acting via the Treasury Solicitor) inherits any assets of dissolved companies, but my understanding is they won't discharge the security, because they consider they can only do that if there was still an asset (i.e. a balance on your account).

    Which I think leaves you with going to court to get it removed, seeing whether the registers can take a view and remove it anyway, or getting title indemnity insurance.
