Speeding fine advice request

Hi,
In September my husband failed to spot a change in speed limit from 60 to 30 on a country road, and was caught on a camera at 36mph in a 30mph zone. Obviously entirely his fault.
The initial notification came to me as the car owner. I duly filled in the form to say I wasn't the driver it was my husband.
Fast forward to today, he has received a letter saying they will be prosecuting him. In normal circumstances I would have been on the ball, and would have noticed we didn't receive a revised fine document though against his name, and would have chased it up. My parents have been extremely ill and my days were filled with hospital visits etc so I failed to notice as I was just living day to day. Not a sob story, just mentioning the situation in case people say why didn't I notice.
Anyhow, having not actually received a revised fine with my husband's name on, how on earth do I prove this? Obviously don't want the prosecution to continue but have no idea whether we can do anything here.
Is it just hard luck?
Many thanks.

I answered your question on your original thread, please don’t post duplicates on different boards it breaks forum rules.1

Oh dear I'm doing badly here. I got told that the other board was the wrong one, as it only related to parking fines. So I have posted in this as the more general
I have removed my other post so there isn't a duplicate. That should be OK? Just hoping to get some help from the right board

go onto the ftla forum which is not part of mse forums0

You can get good advice if you remain here (I contribute to both here and ftla)
After you replied naming your husband as the driver, did he received his own "request for driver's details" and did he respond to it?
What is this "letter" he has received? Is it a "Single Justice Procedure Notice"? If so, what charge(s) does it mention?2 -

As above, what has he been charged with?0 -

I'm hardly going to just say hard luck it's your problem.
It was an SP30 originally, for being at 36 in a 30.0 -

You say it was SP30 "originally"- what is it now? Has he also been charged with failing to respond to the request for details?

So what is the letter and what charges does it mention?
If your husband did not respond to his own request for driver's details it is very likely he faces a charge of failing to do so. This is a more serious offence than speeding and carries six points. There is a strategy to avoid being convicted of this but first we need to know what he has been charged with.
I get what you are saying about "We" but you must understand that, legally, it is solely your husband who is on the hook for this.0 -

Yes of course it will be him who takes the punishment. My reply based on the fact that you seemed to take me to task for talking about 'we' in my original post, as though I shouldn't be asking for help on his behalf.
Well it was an SP30 they sent over as it was slightly over the 30 mph speed limit, and that is still what it is now. Sorry if I am being unhelpful, we have not gone through this before so am rather out of our depth. Which is why I was hoping for some guidance on here.
