Evri /P2G pack lost. Value not declared.
Hi,
Would really appreciate some advice for the following delivery issue.
I arrange a parcel delivery via P2G, to send my old Canada Goose (CD) Jacket, back to CD under warranty for repair.
Regrettably, I did not change the value from the set £20 (which is where I have made a big mistake looking at the other posts, and sounds like will be a costly lesson)
The parcel was large and I used one of the printed labels that you can get at the store.
The tracking shows that on the day of delivery, they were unable to delivery (no reason given) and said would do the next day. The parcel has not been seen since. I
I had to send photos of the coat to get approval before arranging the return to CD. They have since sent me an email saying that my package had not arrived, and they were not sure why, but would let me know once it had. (as I added their email when booking) – which I was already aware of.
I took photos of the coat and the box/packaging before it was sent.
I have contacted Evri numerous times via email, chat and call. I finally got a reply by email saying that it was lost. This is all.
Can you offer any advice? Is there anything I can do?
Kind regards,
K

Not really, no. As you say, had you set the real value and insured it accordingly, you'd be able to make a claim.

So what - if anything - are they offering in compensation? £20?
If you decided not to declare the true value of the item it's difficult to see why they should be liable for more than £20, or whatever the default value is2 -
I think I can submit a claim via P2G for £20. I was hoping someone may have an idea, but having read a few of the posts and as confirmed above, I have no recourse, all because I didn't submit a a value!! (a hard expensive lesson to learn). Thanks for taking the time to reply0

If the description of the package was accurately described and P2G are setting the default value to £20 rather than allowing the consumer to enter their own values (and I suspect there will be a deliberate reason behind that i.e. compensation limits) then arguably, one might say there is a unilateral mistake here. The remedy is to rectify the contract to the true value of the package and then the OP could then claim that value against P2G.Okell said:So what - if anything - are they offering in compensation? £20?

Obviously the only way to make that happen would be for the OP to issue legal proceedings against Evri, otherwise I think options are limited.

When you say didn't change the value what does this mean? You can enter any value for the goods when booking so should declare the correct value, the booking flow will bug you about parcel cover but it's optional.
Might be worth a post here OP, lots of threads of making court claims for lost parcels:

Your issue might be that if you entered the value as £20 then the loss might be viewed as unforeseeable. In the game of chess you can never let your adversary see your pieces3 -
your contract is with P2G not Evri, so its whatever P2G will offer you.
Must admit, it seems somewhat common when stuff goes missing with Evri/DPD (either not delivered, ever or the content is swapped/missing/empty when it is delivered) that the first delivery doesn't happen1 -
Whilst the contract is with P2G, the OP could seek to claim under the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 which allows claims directly against third parties where you may not have a contract. OP could add Evri as a second defendant to maximise any successful claim.visidigi said:your contract is with P2G not Evri, so its whatever P2G will offer you.0 -
Thanks for your replies. To clarify, the compensation was set to £20 on P2G website and I did not change this (regrettably). I put "Coat" as the description.0

What did you put in the contents value field OP?
