Intelligent Octopus Flux with Solaredge

After seeing something on Facebook I had a look and it appears IOF may now support Solaredge. Information is contradictory. The landing page says only Givenergy and Enphase are supported.
https://octopus.energy/smart/intelligent-octopus-flux/

But if you go to the sign up page, it asks what sort of battery and if you select Solaredge it goes on to asking you to confirm you agree the Ts&Cs to sign up.

Whereas if you select for example Tesla it says "Unfortunately we can't support your home battery just yet, but we're working hard to build more integrations."

I'm not quite ready to jump so didn't progress beyond that point, so I guess it's still possible it would fail further downstream.

Back in July 2024 that was certainly the intention
    Looks like it's finally happened.

    This is great news!
    -  10 x 400w LG + 6 x 550W SHARP BiFacial Panels + SE 3680 HD Wave Inverter + SE Optimizers. SE London.
    -  Triple aspect. (22% ENE/ 33% SSE/ 45% WSW)
    -  Viessmann 200-W on Advanced Weather Comp. (the most efficient gas boiler sold)

Feel free to DM me if I can help with any energy saving!
  • Anyone made progress with linking SolarEdge with Intelligent Flux?

I asked Octopus over 2 weeks ago to confirm compatibility and received this:

Regarding the compatibility of your SolarEdge battery with Intelligent Flux, I understand the confusion. Compatibility can sometimes vary based on specific models and configurations. I can see the solar edge has been updated as your new device integration, and is onboarding.
The only confusion was the contradictions on their webpages and still no clarity if this was 'live' or not...

Nothing seemed to happen so I went through the process again last a few days ago and added my SolarEdge system to my Octopus devices on the App, which is further than I managed before:

I'm hanging in there but no tariff change seen or any emails from Octopus.  I'm still left wondering if this will work or not.

  • I should probably add that on the web tariff page only 2 systems are listed (GivEnergy and Enphase) but on the Octopus App it also includes SolarEdge:

  • For anyone following this path I had to contact Octopus who added Intelligent Flux manually, disconnected my device from their end and for me to reconnect it again.

The tariff change was instant but they said it would be under 24 hours for it to onboard properly.  It was completed in under 19 hours, so I now have this:

    Hurrah!

For those with Tesla systems - they went live with Octopus Intelligent Flux integrations as from yesterday.  So hurrah for those far right leaning systems too... or something.

Thanks for the update. At the moment, while we're using more than we're generating, I'm staying on fixed export and Go import, charging the battery with cheap rate. Maybe in a month would be the right time to change.

How big's your system? We have 8.5kWp of panels, but I've not yet seen it exceed 6kW this Spring.

That's good to know - thank you for sharing

  • I think I am taking one for the team as nothing is quite working as it should.  Currently it sees my imports as exports and vice versa, which confuses the home consumption figure and the proper control of the battery.  Octopus say they will refund the cost of this poor behaviour but they don't have a fix right now.  The pitfalls of a new integration.

It is 12.04kWp (28 panels) but my system is best seen as a lesson on what being surrounded by trees, with multiple aspects, dormer roof and pitch angles from as low as 10º to 45º.  If it wasn't for the optimisers my system would not work, yet it does.

The inverter is 8kW and the highest peak I have ever seen is 10.7 kWh, so very close to the peak limit.  The original design was for 33 panels but scaffolding plans and unfortunate rafter position took 5 panels off the installation.  I am debating adding an additional 5 wall-mounted (ie vertical) panels and 2 roof-mounted panels facing west.

Might drop a tree along the way...

  • No EV as yet, so only real choice is between Flux and Intelligent Flux but the best answer is both, hopping at the cross-over points to save an extra £57.00 pa:

@Rolling_Scissors Please can I ask - what did you use to generate that comparison? I've never seen that before.
