Boiler malfunction

My boiler(Worcester Bosch Greenstar 27Ri Compact) is not behaving well. 7 years old and serviced each year. It is connected via Hive. It fires up ok according to the timing set but refuses to turn off when the target temperature is set. It's happened twice with a three day break  of normalcy in between! I've had to turn it off overnight. A plumber is called but any ideas why it is doing this before he arrives?

Faulty thermostat would be my guess, or possibly it has been set massively high without you noticing.

Is it the Hive app misbehaving?

It used to have an issue with some of the boost/manual settings, where it didn't revert to schedule, and just kept heating.

Don't know if any updates have introduced gremlins into the system again. There might be similar comments on bookfarce or other social media.

Thanks. Thermostat is set normally and green light on receiver goes out when target is reached but boiler stays alight. Hive app is behaving ok.

Do you have to leave it off overnight? Will a quick off and on not fix it until the next time it plays up? Assuming it doesn't call for heat in the middle of the night

If I leave it on the boiler keeps firing whatever temperature the thermostat is set at and the temperature keeps rising! 😥

Do the batteries in the thermostat need replacing?
Otherwise could be a faulty actuator or stuck valve

Is it S plan? Is the hot water calling for heat and the two port valve is faulty stuck on heating?

If the fault is with the thermostat or a zone valve, highly unlikely.
