Consequences of Home Insurance Claim While Acting as Attorney

My father went into care & lost capacity a couple of years ago. I held power of attorney & became responsible for selling his house. During the selling process, a surveyor alleged subsidence & so I contacted the insurer. Eventually, after months of taking measurements, the insurer concluded that there was no subsidence & declined the claim.

I am now wanting to compare the market for my own home insurance but am unsure about how to answer the question concerning whether I have made a recent claim on a home insurance policy. I have never made a claim against my own property but the standard question just asks if I have made a claim & does not specify my relationship with the property.

You haven't  made a claim. Effectively you are your father as his LPA so it is him who has made the claim.
All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

As mentioned above, you have not made a claim.

your father or his personal representative has made a claim.  So, his home insurance would need to declare a claim but you dont.
