Missing Scottish Power shares
My Dad purchased the maximum allowed number of shares for each member of our family (My parents, me and my two brothers), when all the big power companies were privatised in the 1990s in Scotland. We still have all the original share certificates. They have never been touched and should have been paying out dividends over the years. However my Dad does not have a mobile phone or a computer so in the last few years I have been trying to help him trace the whereabouts of these shares but none of the share dealing companies, who took over these companies seem to be able to trace the shares. My Dad will be 87 this year and I fear the stress that this is causing him is robbing him of the final years of his life. He has been making daily phone calls and I have written numerous letters and emails to all the major share dealing companies but coming up against a brick wall every time. I have no idea where to go from here.

Scottish Power ceased to exist in 2007, they were sold to Iberdrola and he may well have elected to receive cash rather than shares in the new company.Number for Shareholders (UK) Calls to this number are charged at 8p per minute from a BT landline.
