Can I claim on my travel insurance

Hi All,
I booked travel insurance with Admiral last July 2024 for 1 year for me and my wife as we usually go away 3 times a year. I told them of a bad back condition I had, and paid what the quote was £57.01 for travel in Europe, insurance to end on 01/07/2025.
In December 2024, I was diaognosed with Lung cancer and do not feel safe enough to go on holiday this year to Cyprus. I had already booked flights to Cyprus last Aug 2024.
As I am still covered to 01/07/25 can I claim my money back for my flights?
Thanks in advance
Ian

sorry to hear about the diagnosis.
First thing I'd check is if Cyprus is covered at all.
Then ask your doctor if you are well enough to travel. The insurance may be ok with you providing a copy of the diagnosis but may well ask if it means you can't travel, or that it's against doctor's advice.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe and Old Style Money Saving boards. Did you inform Admiral of the cancer diagnosis? Most, but possibly not all, insurers require that you inform them of any new health conditions immediately. Even if you did inform Admiral, it's unlikely you will be covered for a 'disinclination to travel', that is not wanting to travel despite a doctor saying you are fit to travel.1
