First Class Train Travel

It's time to renew the season ticket and I have a question to anyone in the know. I usually buy a standard class ticket, but this year have thought about 1st class as I don't ever get a seat on the 1hr train ride home. It costs over a £1000 extra --- HOWEVER --- I change and take another train on the way to work and home for approximately 15 mins that doesn't have any 1st class provision.

Can I claim a rebate from the train company for this each day? Therefore would I be able to offset the cost by reclaiming a lack of 1st class for a part of the journey?

Just a thought - all comments and suggestions welcome - otherwise will just stick with standard class as I'm not snobby about those kind of things

    Don't think so.

If there is never any 1st class on that 15 minute stretch (ie NONE of the trains using it have 1st class) then that will have been built into the price. In theory anyway.

If there is sometimes 1st class then you choosing a train that doesn't have it is up to you.

Try pricing two seasons - one first class for the section that has it and another standard for the rest
  • Thanks dzug will give it a punt and see what it comes up with
