This is more money vs the currys ripoff you listed

Just some current examples
If your in a position to wait out something will turn up like a Asus Vivobook that will be better value than the Dell from Currys .

Just seen the Asus recommendation. I have an Asus and it is the worst laptop I've ever bought. It can barely cope with more than one excel spreadsheet. Multiple browser pages and It fails me miserably.
I only bought it for light use but it's not a brand il buy again0 -
Cheap Dells or HP are a worry and so is Currys although on occasions they do have deals .
Its a good idea to visit Currys to view/use laptops on displayto help your decision .....then buy similar or the same cheaper elsewhere.
This Asus below worked for myself via the HUUKD site above on price ,screen size ,nit rating etc
16inch Asus Vivobook Ryzen 5 256GB, upgradable 8GB ram, 300nit screen for £274 delivered
Same as the 1st example below but at less cost

Gadget Centre (gcentre.co.uk) refurbished laptops. You can upgrade to latest Windows 11 as well as RAM and storage size. Mine was delivered quickly and securely, packed very well. You can also decide on the length of guarantee you require.0

You will get a load of different opinions from different people. I would try and stick to the facts.Look on the SIMS game and see what the minium spec is to play the game. I've just looked and it says minimum Intel CoreI3 and 4GB of RAM. But they recommend IntelCore i5 and 8GB RAM. I'd certainly go with the latter. I wouldn't go forking out for 16GB RAM if you don't need to, as this spec of laptop often comes with a higher end graphics card and processor that might be overkill for your needs and too much money. To put it in perspective - I bought a used mini-PC from ebay with windows 11, intel core i5 and 8GB RAM. I use it for music recording. It runs extremely fast and only cost me £80.And the final fact is - do not go near currys!0

There are a lot of laptops with soldered RAM and not upgradable.
This mean 3-4 years down the line when you feel it is slow, nothing you can do about it.
Honestly even if there are empty RAM slot, if you ask a non tech person to open the case and add RAM, they usually either too scare or can't be bothered.
So when people ask to recommend laptop for non intensive gaming these date, I tends to recommend a used business grade laptop with 16GB RAM installed. You just hope it could last longer if you looking after it...
