First Great Western weekly season ticket prices
Options
Does anyone know where you can get weekly season ticket prices online?
On the FGW site, you can get monthly/annual price quotes, but I'm sure you used to be able to enter two stations and get a weekly price as well.
I don't need to buy online, just get the price.

Thanks, indeed it is, although I'm not liking the prices.
No wonder people won't use public transport, it's cheaper and quicker for me to drive the route each day.0 -
Now im not writing in praise of the railway but....
people that claim that driving is cheaper does nark me off. Off course everyone remembers when they have to pay a huge chunk in one go (i.e. yearly seasons), but have you considered the fuel costs, the wear and tear of the tyres, the MoT costs, insurance, fines (if applic), the wear and tear of the car, etc etcEx-Employee of a Train Operating Company.

Very well, not all of those costs apply to me though. You also need to consider comfort and convenience in the decision as well. In my 5 journeys on this route before X-Mas, the train was late every day and I got a seat on only two occassions. Now I find the prices have gone up in the New Year for this 'service'.
The operator First 'Great' Western has what I would describe as an appalling record in terms of punctuality and cancellations. Fair enough, more money is needed to invest in better services, but fares increase over the rate of inflation each year and little or no real improvement is shown in the service, yet profits still appear to rise. You don't need the media to spin political angles on the rail system, just ask the paassengers who travel each day.0 -
Then dont travel!
Its not like we handcuff you and drag you onto the trains. Mind you, you do have to push and force your way on.Ex-Employee of a Train Operating Company.

It's a shame, because I'd love to leave the car at home and use public transport, but the train is more hassle than it's worth, both from a monetary and convenience POV. Services can only improve, hopefully...0
