- While shopping at Sainsbury's I bought a pack of Laila Bombay mix. It was something new, but I am familiar with this snack and normally buy Haldiram brand among others. This is the worst Bombay mix that I ever tasted. The contents had no resemblance the photo on the pack; it was just full of fried Gram flour paste and very little else. It was awful. I am familiar with Laila brand and in fact I just bought a 10Kg pack of their special Basmati rice.Date of Purchase 13 Feb 2025Barcode 6290673024139300130225

It doesnt look that dissimilar (in my opinion)0

You bought a food/snack item and were disappointed with it? I'm not sure how that comes under the "Consumer Rights" category. For sure, you could post on the Praise & Vents board if you feel so inclined, but for me I'd just be saying to myself "Well I ain't going to buy that again".

So what are you wanting?Life in the slow lane0

It comes under consumer rights because Sainsburys offer additional rights to consumers, over and above consumers' statutory rights.
These include:I'm not happy with the quality of my item, what can I do?We're sorry you're not happy with the quality of your items, please return your item to a store convenient for you, with your proof of purchase and we'll be happy to refund or exchange. Alternatively, you can use our online refund form.
Although the OP told us the bar code of the product(!) he has not revealed to us whether he returned to Sainsburys since Feb 13, which option he chose and whether the flavour of the exchange pack was more to his taste.
Consumer rights are solely with the retailer.0 -

To be fair, compared with proper Bombay mix it does look a bit cheap and nasty - mostly shrapnel.Past caring about first world problems.0

I doubt there is a definition anywhere of "proper Bombay mix".
What's in that packet doesn't look unusual.1
