I have a problem with a commercial electricity supplier charging extortionate "Out of contract rates"
The business next door changed their supplier last year but for what ever reason they changed my service also its now been sorted out but the £300 they paid was refunded, but they then charged me £670 over double saying i was out of contract. I have tried to speak to them but they are not prepared to enter another contract, so can they charge me over double when i was prepared to enter the contract ?

not sure I quite understand what you mean - can you make the fact more clearer?

    1. You were in a contract with XYZ supplier from 01/06/24 - 31/12/2025
    2. Business next door changed supplier on 01/09/2024
    3. My contract was terminated on 01/09/2024
    4. Contract Rates were xxppu & xxdsc ( pence per unit and daily standing charge )
    5. Current rates are ......

As an aside - why have you not entered into a contract with another supplier if the current one won't offer you a contract?

The OFGEM rules were extended by OFGEM on 19th Dec 2024 to include Small Businesses.   You no longer have to terminate your contract within the last month you can take out a contract with a new supplier and they will sort the transfer (just like they do for  Domestic consumers)
