I'd say try using the washer dryer and see how you get on.

When we lived in a smaller place and were tighter for space than we are now, and before we had kids, I actively preferred a washer dryer because we could put a load in and set it to wash and then dry everything without our needing to manually transfer everything from the washer to the dryer partway through.

Yes, it would only manage a relatively small load, but that wasn't a big problem. We just used it slightly more often - or did bigger loads to dry outside when the weather allowed.

    As above.
In any case, although a machine may have a washing capacity of 8Kgs, this is a maximum and usually only applies to a couple of the washing programmes. Normally for most washing programmes it is recommended to have washing loads less than the maximum.
My only worry with washer driers is that they used to be known as less reliable than separate washing machine and drier. Maybe that has changed.

We've had ours for nearly a decade without any issues.

We had a vented tumble drier placed  on top of a chest of drawers in a large fitted wardrobe  that covered one wall.

The hose was hung out the window when it was being used.
