Morning all. Yesterday's weather wasn't as bad as we were led to believe it would be, although it was quite gusty at times with just a few light showers. Today it's dry, sunny and mild. A pity it's for one day only!
I ended up going to the Co-op for milk after all during a dry spell and felt all the better for it, I hadn't been out of the house for a week. That's grocery shopping done with for the rest of the month now so I'll have some cash left over in the budget. The Low Spend February has gone well, long may it continue in March. Once I've done what needs to be done today I'll be going out for a walk, no particular destination in mind - just a walk to top up the Vitamin D intake and a bit of exercise.
For those of us in receipt of state pensions the annual increase letters are currently being delivered. I got mine yesterday and I doubt know the small increase isn't going to go very far. Like many others, I was dragged into paying tax on my final salary pension last year too; that will also be going up in April, thanks to fiscal drag. I'll be looking at adjusting my budget over the next few weeks and can foresee more belt tightening on the way. Still haven't heard anything about my application for Pension Credit either - 12 weeks and counting.
TV viewing for tonight is sorted (no sport) and I'm having a TV dinner to go with it - pizza with extra cheese and a couple of sliced/cooked chipolata sausages added, plus side salad. Chocolate sponge for afters. Probably not the healthiest of meals but once in a while is OK.
Happy holidays @Chrisca and @Gers. And anyone else planning a trip, I can't remember who said what.
@silver-oldie - Good luck with your pruning of possessions. The mugs sound like a good place to start!
@dp1 - That wasn't a good day for you yesterday, or DD for that matter. I hope your Dad is OK today.
@mehefin - It helps to offload on here when the going gets tough, we're all here for you.
Whatever you have planned have the best day you can and take care. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.13 -
Hello all, I've had a few days with problem upon problem plus the witness for the POA has suddenly pulled out so that's off the table and we're back to square one. I haven't felt like posting and keep moaning because I already do enough to sink the Daily boat. However thankfully the stormy weather has passed and today we have a yellow ball in the sky but sadly I don't think it will last if the weatherman is right.
Today I have nowhere to go, no-one to see or phone and nothing that must be done. Of course there's plenty to do in the house like a full washing basket to clear so I may do that just to show willing. Later I'll do a freezer dive for something to eat for tea today and find some meat to defrost for tomorrow.
Mehefin I was so sorry to read your sad news about Scooby so please accept lots of cwtches from me, perhaps Scooby's already keeping company with Dawn in the next world. Post and moan away with no need to apologise, we've all done the moaning, especially me. Hugs xx
dp1 I hope your Mam and Dad are ok and also little one perks up with her new milk.
Izzy I hope you can get away and enjoy it.
Crisca enjoy your trip
Gers enjoy your travels
Scarlet Mr Fix It is exactly the same, he was asleep in his chair at 7pm last night, woke up for some supper then went straight to bed. Hugs to you and DH.
Hugs to the poorly ones, the family members and pets.
Take care all
nan xx

Hi everyone,
I'm having a lazy start to the day. We went out yesterday and I ended up feeling quite tired so I'm being a bit more sensible today. I'll watch the football and then the rugby this afternoon. It's Laura's birthday tomorrow and I was planning to make a cake but I might send Steve out to M & S to buy one. They will be back for a meal tomorrow so it will be beef with all the trimmings.
Mehefin, as everyone said be as sad as you like on here, we're not fair weather friends.
Nanny, I hope you get the LPA sorted soon.
dp1, what a worry for you. I hope things have settled down now and that the new feed helps little one.
Have a good day.15 -
Morning all
its been raining all morning but stopped now, the log man came and delivered us a load of logs last night in the dark and pouring rain so we left them on the driveway so they will need to go in the shed this morning, the scaffolding in the garden is much bigger than expected so it will be a struggle to get the logs in but that’s OH’s job 😬
Dinner tonight will be what we call nabs - cheese cold meats and picky bits one of my favourite dinners, dd is off out for pizza with her young man so just OH and I here to eat.
Dogs to be walked after and I must do my invoicing as the end of month is approaching.
Chrisca have a great holiday I am very envious xx
Mehefin no words just hugs xx
Have good days all and take care xx13 -
Thanks everyone for the good wishes for both little one and my mam and dad.
I've been down this morning and all is well, though mam really can't see what we were concerned about yesterday. Her taxi to go into town had arrived before dads' carer so she'd gone out, she claimed she didn't know she should have waited....so I've said please do so. I think she must have regularly done this, without any problems - yesterday dad had thought he might need the loo so had started crawling to the bathroom!
Little one is coming up for a couple of hours shortly x12
