So I have been on UC for two years. I receive migration protection as I transferred over from tax credits. I'm currently in the process of buying my council house and I know I'll lose the housing element but what I can earn rate will go up but does anyone know will I lose the migration protection? If I do it's Gona be a massive dent in my finances

The loss of the H.E. doesn't cause the loss of T.P.

Thanks know I'll lose H.E and I'm ok with that worked out my finances but been panicked about losing the protection. I have a deduction for bedroom tax so will I lose the full 420 element or will the deduction just be 370 do you know?. Trying to work out my finances before house completion day and everything changes 🤣0

It will be £370 that you will lose because that’s how much you were receiving.0

Have you also thought about how you will be able to pay for any repairs? When renting that’s the responsibility of the landlord so at least you have peace of mind with that. I certainly wouldn’t want that responsibility myself in my situation.0

Yea that's why. I'm trying to sort finances out now my mortgage payment a lot lower than rent I'm paying now.poppy12345 said:Have you also thought about how you will be able to pay for any repairs? I am in this situation, my landlord died without next of kin and the property is in the long process of being taken over by the crown. I now have to pay for repairs to the property since I dont currently have a landlord and I had to have my roof fixed due to storm damage, it cost a lot of money even at a discount.Linzimain87 said:
