That excludes rather a lot of countries that I'd have thought would be on most traveller's wish lists (India, Cuba, Cambodia er North Korea for example) But yes, not much need for local currency in advance in the usual tourist locations.zagfles said:

I also like to have a modest amount of local cash - the "just in case" mindset.Nothing wrong with that IMO, in fact I reckon it's good practice.Better to have it and not need it rather than vice versa.The question is where to get it at a favourable/best rate.
