Young driver marmalade payg

My daughter passed her test nearly a year ago, we took out marmalade payg insurance for her on a black box as an addition to my own insurance, which has worked particularly well, as I use the car daily for work and especially with her being at uni (currently abroad) and only home a week or so every couple months. But still gaining NCD. They’ve written to say that they’re stopping this insurance from her renewal date in March.
Every quote I find is for monthly policies which don’t work for us, it needs to be a bolt on to my policy.
Are there other polices that are pay by mile that I’m missing, particularly ones that continue to increase NCD?

I am in the same boat as you by the sound of it. My daughter is away at university most of the time but drives the car when she is home so we don’t really want to have to pay for a full (expensive) annual policy.
I hadn’t heard about Marmalade scrapping pay-as-you-go until today when I received an email to say her policy will expire at the end of March.
Will follow this thread with interest and alert you if I find a solution to the problem.0 -
In a similar situation with my daughter at Uni. What did the other forumites do about insurance?0

What did the other forumites do about insurance? You might be able to get a reasonably priced standard policy with your daughter as a named driver. I was shocked to find that I could insure our second car, with my daughter as a named driver, for under £500 with Ford Insure. My then insurer wouldn't add her to the policy at any price so I just cancelled that policy and took out a Ford Insure policy. The major caveat with Ford Insure, and all other Admiral Group (EUI) brands, is that they have the clause where they can recover their costs from you if the driver has been drinking. If there is any risk that your daughter, or any other named driver could have an accident after drinking you should think very carefully about whether that is a risk that you want to take.
