Experian blocking mortgage application.

My son has applied for a mortgage but Experian are asking for a password from the lender to carry out the hard search. My son has never asked for a password word to be put on his account and Experian admit it is their error. They say it will take 3 days to even look into the error then upto 28 days to solve it, alternatively the password can be changed, as nobody knows what it it, but that will take 10 days. My son is worried that the mortgage might be refused because of this and he will loose the house. Anybody else had this sort of problem or any suggestions on getting this resolved more quickly?

Lenders can credit search anyone on Experian's database providing they have obtained permission. Never heard of a lender having to provide the accouunt user's password,0

I know it can be done with a notice of correction but there is not one on his account. Experian acknowledged that it is their error but the problem is if it takes 28 days to solve it1

Have they put a CIFAS protection on it by mistake?
Anyway, Experian have said it can take up to however many days, doesn't mean it will take that number of days. Also does the lender only use Experian for its hard searches?1 -
Sounds like he’s turned on Experian CreditLock.0
