boiler flue pipe outside, is there a way to make the smoke go to the left handside/or upwards?

annoyingly, the flue pipe blows smoke directly outwards and its near my front door
and whenever i have heating on or running the shower, smoke comes out of it...and its very visible i want to make it more discreet, please advise?

i've attached a picture (is there a pipe connector i can slot in, to give it a u-bend?)

  • Computer says no. Or rather, "yes" but... This is not a DIY job for most people and should ideally be handled by a qualified heating engineer or plumber. Improperly altering a flue system can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning, boiler malfunction, or even explosions.
  • Is it not just steam that comes out? everyone that has a combi type boiler has this problem.

Yes it's steam, not smoke,  and you can reduce the amount of steam by turning down the flow temperature of your boiler. This will allow the steam to condense internally and make your boiler more efficient.

I am guessing that is a double pipe (two concentric pipes)

outer for air intake, inner for exhaust ?

Indeed. I run my boiler with a flow temperature anywhere between 40°C and 60°C and the return temperature is consistently below 40°C. Barely a whisper of white "smoke" coming out of the flue, and boiler efficiency is up at 92% or more.

Yes, concentric pipe - You can get flue systems with split intake & exhaust, but very few people need one (also a lot more expensive). A plume management kit will clip over the exhaust and direct the fumes to a different location - As this is part of a gas heating system, it needs to be fitted by a Gas Safe engineer. A relatively quick job, so I'd advise getting it done when you have the boiler serviced.
