Re Virgin Atlantic credit card
I travel to and from UK and South Africa.
I was informed by Virgin that South Africa is deemed as a high risk country and therefore I am unable to use my card in SA. They are now going to close my account and told me my debt will be paid off.
I use my Virgin Card to accumulate Virgin Miles.
Will this affect my credit score.
Any advice will be appreciated
Thanks

Umm you posted exactly the same question in the thread about the Nationwide takeover of Virgin.Did you see the answer posted by @Nasqueron ?For what its worth, I find it a big leap to a country listed as high risk for AML activities to a single card holder having their account closed.According to this Law Society site, South Africa is on the list of high risk countries:To be honest I don't understand everything on the page, but South Africa is listed. Though I can't believe Monaco and Vietnam are on that list because as far as I know these are popular holiday destinations. In terms of your account being shutdown I am inclined to wonder if there is more to it than you spending money in South Africa. As I said many people go to Monaco and Vietnam and I have never seen anything written on the internet about their credit cards being closed. And if you are truly right about Virgin paying off your bill, the only other time I have heard of this is when Creation shutdown some of their IHG cards and a handful of customers had their balance paid off to the best of my recollection. If you are only asking about credit score, as@Nasqueron says the credit score is a number made up by the credit agencies. What you need to think about is your credit file i.e.:How much total credit do you have?Roughly how much of that are you using? What is your income?Have you missed any full payments and/or minimum payments? Are you paying interest for any of your spending?Have you withdrawn cash using your credit card? How may other applications for credit have you made in the last 6 months? If the answers to these good (i.e. high, low, no, none or never as appropriate) then you shouldn't have any problems applying for another credit card.0
