I have 2 days left to defend myself (received letter only a few days ago) for a ticket issued to me under the reason “NO valid pay & display was purchased” nearly 5yrs ago. I did pay & display but the machine did not print all my reg out as it was playing up but happily proceeded to take my payment - this is the reason for being invalid. I appealed this right at the start with proof of payment and the ticket - of which I still have. They did not accept my appeal so I’ve been receiving debt collector letters since with many companies when my debt is sold over -I still have all these letter too. I really feel this is totally wrong considering I did pay hence why I’ve ignored all letters but now I have this court letter. Have I messed up by appealing previously as I’ve admitted in a kind of way that I’m the driver? I no longer have the car either as it had to be crushed due to ULEZ not sure if that means anything

follow the newbies and get the AOS done if not already done so and get the defence in
No debt has been sold
who owns the car now is irrelevant1 -
What is the Issue Date on your Claim Form?
Can you please show us a picture of the Particulars of Claim - with all your personal detail hidden of course.
Who is the Claimant?
Have you filed an Acknowledgment of Service?
If so, upon what date did you do so?
Your MCOL Claim History will have the definitive answer to that.2 -
DCB Legal I'm guessing?
They won't have any idea you paid and just make court claims en masse as a thirty quid debt collection service.
Can you get your bank statement from 5 years ago?3 -
Issue date is 6/2/25
I have not filed an AOS as of yet
yes it’s DCB legal
I Have a letter from the bank showing the transaction of which I also used in my appeal that I lost
I also have my original ticket purchased1 -

Your vehicle's registration mark is clearly visible on that image you have shown us.With a Claim Issue Date of 6th February, you have until Tuesday 25th February 2025 to file an Acknowledgment of Service('AOS'), but there is nothing to be gained by delaying it.To file an AOS, follow the guidance in the Dropbox file linked from the second post in the NEWBIES thread.Having filed an AOS in a timely manner, you have until 4pm on Tuesday 11th March 2025 to file a Defence. That's three weeks away. Plenty of time to produce a Defence, but please don't leave it to the last minute. To create a Defence, and then file a Defence by email, look again at the second post on the NEWBIES thread - immediately following where you found the AOS guidance.Don't miss the deadline for filing an AOS, nor that for filing a Defence.
Do not try and file a Defence via the MoneyClaimOnline website. Once an AOS has been filed, the MCOL website should be treated as 'read only'.2 -

I assume it's tedious old DCB Legal? Easy to beat,In most current defences v DCB Legal claims, paragraph 3 (within the 30 paragraph Template Defence) looks similar to the thread below by @shahib_02 ... just change the incident date:
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6576011/cel-dcb-legal-pcn-cnbc-claim-defence-assistance-required-pleaseNo need for more detail EXCEPT if you need to add something important as 3.1 (after shahib's para).
Then the whole template defence WHICH WE BEG POSTERS NOT TO POST IN FULL HERE (you've no idea how tiresome it is to be constantly asked to check our own work!).
DCB Legal will discontinue in 6 months time, before the hearing.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
