Amazon refund

Hi,
I ordered a record player (£250) for Christmas. It didn't arrive, even though amazon said it was delivered. They didn't offer any proof of delivery.
I followed amazon's procedures, contacted the police for a crime reference, but after months going back and forth with them my refund was rejected.
I then went to my bank to claim the money back and was successful. A week after the money was back in my account, amazon sent me an email advising I need to pay the £250 and that it will be taken from the card on my account.
Surely this can't be right?

Sounds like a chargeback was actioned by your bank? This has no legal standing on who was right/wrong and the merchant can contest the chargeback.....as Amazon have done.
Was payment by debit or credit card?0 -
Yes, Amazon can challenge the chargeback and they have done.s6781r said:Hi,

If you paid by credit card you have a section 75 route available to you - where the card provider is jointly liable.0 -
As others have asked, how did you pay? did you use a credit card? If you did, who is the card provider?0

If Amazon have asked OP to repay the £250 then they have not challenged the chargeback. If they had, then the bank would have re debited the OP.Aylesbury_Duck said:
