Halifax block on transfers while current account switch in process

Hi,

I applied to switch current account from Halifax to Nationwide a few weeks ago; I chose the transfer to happen this week (20/02/25). I tried making a transfer from Halifax to another 3rd party account last Friday (1 week before official switch) and it seems that Halifax had put a freeze on my account and I'm unable to do any transfer. Fortunately my direct debits are still going through and I am able to withdraw money but shouldn't I still be able to use my account as normal and also being able to make transfers?
I made a complaint and waiting to hear but was wondering if there's anything else I can do?

This is a very unusual freezing/block, and, most likely, it has nothing to do with switching.

What did Halifax say when you asked them?

Agree, that shouldn't happen with a switch, other factors could be involved.

They just said it's because of the switch; this shouldn't be the reason so very frustrating.

There's a block on creating new payees during the switch as payees need to be transferred across to the new account.

Ok, that would make sense. 1 week before launch though!
