Fixed Tariffs still available from EDF!

My current EDF Essentials 1 Yr Mar25v6 fixed tariff bills for electricity and gas comes to an end on 25th March, and EDF sent me an email suggesting the cheapest alternative was their variable price capped Simply Tracker Extra Apr26. They estimated my new bills as £158.12 per month instead of my present £168.94, however future increases in the price cap seem highly likely to erode this saving.

Instead I opened the EDF app on my phone and found them still offering 2 fixed price tariffs. I chose the Simply Fixed 2 Yr Feb 27v6 tariff which they say will freeze my current payments until the end of February 2027.

NO tariff will freeze your PAYMENTS.

The only things that are fixed are the standing charges and unit rates.

I'm on the essential tariff may25 and looking ar the carrier you are on the unit price for electricity is 3p more and standard charge is .9p more

The gas price for unit is 0.6p cheaper and standard charge is slightly cheaper too but it works out 20 quid more than I pay now

Energy fixes are always a fix for the underlying unit rates and standing charges. You need to focus on your actual usage, rather than the amount of money you pay each month by direct debit. If EDF are moving you to a more expensive tariff but also not asking you to pay more each month through your direct debit, then I'd be very surprised if they didn't decide to chase you for underpayment at some point.
