For a simple estate, no. Apart from the extra cost solicitors tend to move very slowly so generally add many months to the process.V3cash said:is it better to get a solicitor?
the inheritance in our case is fairly simple, if there is such a thing 🧐

My husband is an executor and unfortunately things have been delayed with the death going to inquest. They have copy of will and seeing solicitor next week, it’s all in hand.

Please, why the obscure questions when your husband cannot yet even apply for probate.
If you explore this forum, simple estates applied for electronically are taking an average of 3 weeks to grant if there are no queries, and some take 4 days.
So the sensible thing is for your husband to collect all the possible paperwork, sort it and once he's able, apply electronically. If there's no queries from the Probate Registry, get it on the market.
Paper applications on which there are queries can take months and marketing too soon loses buyers and reduces prices. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
