Tax code reduction

in Cutting tax
Hello, I'm a newbie here. I have received an email from HMRC saying that my tax code has been lowered. My circumstances have not changed, my job has not changed. I also owe around £100 due to the tax free amount being lowered. I contacted work about it but they redirected me to HMRC. I am not sure what I need to do. I'd like to write to HMRC but I'm not sure what link I need to go to as this is all new to me.
Thanks to who will kindly help.

What was your tax code before and after the change, and how exactly have they calculated the reduction? They'll generally be reducing them in order to collect tax on non-PAYE income such as savings interest, does that apply to you?0
-
Do you receive any benefits from your employer such as medical cover?0

Are you sure this is genuine? HMRC would normally send you a coding notice in the post, not by email.london_dancer said:Hello, I'm a newbie here. I have received an email from HMRC saying that my tax code has been lowered.0 -
Correct, they do send emails saying "You have a tax code change" and directing you to your online personal tax account. They do not (correctly) have a link to your account but instead give directions on how to find it.SacredStephan said:
