What is This?

Dear All

Not long purchased new home and have just found this in a raised flower bed near the patio. Does anyone know what it is or why it might be there?
Thank you

Vent for a septic tank ?  Is there a manhole cover nearby ?
Interesting - could just be decorative as it is a chimney pot topper.

It's a chimney cowl. Looks like it's been put in there for decoration.

Known as an elephants foot. Used for closing off the flue, but still allowing ventilation.

Hi Stuart, what sort of flue? It's away from the house.
There is no septic tank at the property and we can't find a manhole.
