Drain worms?

Hello
I have seen a few small black worms in my house. I've googled and they seem to be 'drain worms'. Never heard of these before but it seems that I should definitely be trying to remove/discourage/eradicate them.
But - I have no idea what to do. Do I need a professional and if so would that be a plumber or a specialist drain person?
Or is this something I can tackle myself?
If anyone has advice for me I'd be so grateful.
Thank you

Seconded. You need just a dribble of bleach, run into the sink waste while running a similar dribble of cold water, This makes sure the bleach gets down into the U bend. Toilet - just a squirt up and around the inside of the bowl - it slides down the sides gradually.

I do this once every couple of weeks. Never heard of drain worms though.

I didn’t think they were common in the UK.
    Where are you seeing them?

Sounds like drain fly larvae. AKA moth flies due to the adults feathery wings. The are harmless, but the larvae are aquatic and feed on bacteria found in the sludge of drains sewers and stagnant water, which indicates your pipework may be somewhat sludged up.

Thank you all very much. They seem to be coming from the bathroom somewhere (not entirely certain as I have found the odd explorer elsewhere too). I googled pictures of what I'm seeing and they seemed to be drain worms but none of the sites are UK based so maybe I am wrong. I will do the bleach suggestion anyway as it will be good to do regardless and then just keep an eye out for the next one and take a photo.
Thank you all again for giving your help so generously.

I don’t think you are wrong, American sites seem to call them drain worms but they are the same thing. They could be breading in a gunged up u-bend or in damp crevices in a walk in shower.
