Our dryer keeps blowing its plug fuse whenever it goes onto hot setting. On looking online, it may be the element at fault. There is a helpful video online on how to replace it. The repairman removes wiring to the heater 1st. These wires are at the front top but the element is at the back. Why do the wires to the heater need removing?
He also says to press the reset button at the back however it won't click. Why won't it click? Could this need replacing also? On another video, someone removed the red button and pressed the internal button manually but I'm not sure if that would be safe. It's one of those months where everything seems to be breaking down  :/

Is it the actual fuse in the plug that's blowing, or the RCD on the consumer unit?
If it's the fuse then it means there's likely a short somewhere, could be the element (although when elements fail they generally short once and completely fail so don't then fuse again as the circuit is completely broken)
It could just as easily be a short in the wiring to the element, if you can get to the wires is there any evidence of melting /burning on them anywhere? (obviously unplug the appliance first!)

Does your consumer unit have mcbs, or is it wired fuses (IE quite old)? If it's mcbs then they would normally trip before a plug fuse if it's a case of a short. What rating of fuse is in the dryer plug? It should be 13A, or possibly 10A.
If someone has put a 3A or 5A fuse in then this would likely blow everytime the heating element is put on.

Thank you so much. You saved me £300. We worked out that it's the boiler repairman who's the culprit. When working out the fault, he'd moved out the spare freezer and dryer to get to the CH switch. I remember he was taking fuses out. It turns out he'd put the 3amp in the dryer and 13 amp in freezer. Add to that, he didn't switch freezer on again so woke up to freezer full of defrosted food. I won't be using him again for the central heating.
