Getting in at a lower level would seem to be the sensible route. As with any planning role there will be a massive number of variables to take into account.

So my advice - for which I may be flamed - is to get into the habit of writing better English all the time, including correct capitalisation and punctuation, so that it becomes second nature, and doesn't take any longer than the way you write now.Signature removed for peace of mind4 -
A lot of event companies are small. Applying for their roles would be a good start, they often take on junior level people0

Event Planning is just a niche form of project management, as another form of niche project manager myself I very much hope you dont look at my posts too closely. I will self confess to have a bad habit of capitalising things but doing it inconsistently. Job titles are a good example where I will at times write the chief underwriting officer and in the next paragraph its the Chief Underwriting Officer.
"Me and my friends" however does grate.x_sal_x said:I’ve researched there’s a lot to make the event industry such as marketing etc. any advice on where to start?
An event planner is a type of project manager ultimately, like most project managers they will have a project team ranging from one person to hundreds. The bigger the team then generally the more specialist everyone involved is. The people that do the marketing for an event may see themselves in the event industry, marketing or a blend of the two. May even be a third dimension if the vents are all around the automotive industry or such.
The advantage of these multiple dimensional views is you can approach them from any of them, particularly at the lower levels. When you get a bit more senior but still hands on then people can get a bit more picky that your experiences comes from their particular sphere.
It's sensible to think about what interests you most and start by aiming for that... as you get experience you may actually decide something else is more interesting but then you have your foot in the door.
Do you fancy working for a venue? Do you want to be planning weddings? The reveal of the next Omega watch? Slipknots next world tour? Do you want to be planning (ie ensuring you've got all the stuff and people turning up in the right order at the right time and what to do if the rigging guys dont show up)? Do you want to be designing (choosing what to put on the table centres or the colour schemes)? Marketing? In small companies you will double or triple hat, in big companies you will be very very niche.3 -

IDK why, but my family appears to be incapable of using text speak. Any messages are in full, punctuation, capitalisation and spelling on the ball. For me, that requires less thought than the less formal option, or deciding what to use.
Anyway, the OP now has a few suggestions to pursue...Signature removed for peace of mind0
