Hi, I just wondered what my rights are with regards to a product recall.
An item I bought through Amazon has been flagged as having a dodgy plug as it is a potential fire hazard and I've been told not to use it. The email from Amazon links to the manufacturer website where it states the fault and that they will provide a replacement plug if I contact them. However the company won't answer my email.
I've just been in touch with Amazon who say they have no option to do anything as it is outside their 2 year warranty. The item was purchased in 2021.
Is there anything more I can do?

Is this a standard 13A 3-pin plug? Would you be required to fit this yourself?
Could be more hazardous than the dodgy original plug since the art of safe plug-changing is almost lost.
If you're happy doing it then a decent plug is ~£3.2 -

Typical life span of the product?
What actually is being proposed to be exchanged?
When did you email the company? How long have you given them to respond?1 -
If it has been flagged as a recall, might take a while for the company to respond. As they may not have the staff to handle the demand. Or actually source the new plug.
