    Yes you will have fees and cgt, but the purchase price will likely be close to the sale price unless you're out of the market for more than a short time or there's some big news that's just come out (which I have to admit there has been quite a bit of recently).

    If you are thinking of moving from a GIA to a S&S ISA then you may want to consider shares, investment trusts and ETFs rather than OIEC funds as provided you have money ready in a S&S ISA then you can time the purchase and selling to within seconds of each other.

    There's always premium bonds for some of it - generally poor "returns", but you never know and they are tax free.

    I was also going to suggest £50K in Premium Bonds.
    Average prize rate is 3.8% but may go down soon ( 3.6% ?) However with no tax they compare reasonably OK with other easy access accounts if you have to tax on the interest.
