Morning all. It's yet another grey and miserable day, chilly too. Like TA, we did get some sun yesterday afternoon after all but I couldn't feel any warmth in it while I was out and about. Today it's forecast for light rain and the sleet has been postponed to tomorrow.
Everything on yesterday's To Do list got done including remembering to take an unopened 3-pack of men's socks to the SA clothing bank that's in the Co-op car park. I've been meaning to do that for a few weeks but kept forgetting.
I didn't have anything in particular planned for today but Mr Postie has just been with some what I call "proper" post (as in not junk mail) so I'll deal with that and get it out of the way.
Tea tonight is a chicken curry with rice; there'll be enough for another meal that I'll have later in the week with a jacket potato - I refuse to put it back in the freezer! I'm also defrosting some cooked beef slices for tomorrow. There's too much for one meal but not enough for two so I'll chop it up and add onions, carrots etc to pad it out - half as a casserole and the other half in a pie dish with a suet crust pastry topping.
Enjoy your parties @ScarletRibbons and @Wicked_Lady.
@TA - I'm still adjusting to being a singleton when it comes to food shopping - it's a hard habit to break, isn't it?
Right, duty calls so I'll wish you all a good day. Take care, keep warm and help yourself to a hug. XBe kind to others and to yourself too.11 -
Morning all
Dull and grey here but no rain due and we are promised a bit of sun tomorrow 😃 we might be able to hang some washing out at last.
I heard from the SW yesterday that Rob has settled well into his respite house he seemed happy and had been out with a staff member to do some shopping it’s such a relief to know he is ok, atm I still get to see him during the week which I am so pleased about at least I know now that he is fed and clean bless him.
Dinner tonight will be pork belly strips with a hot sauce with peas and rice, it’s OH turn to cook so a night off for me, housework to do this morning and then a bath and maybe a film later.
Camelot enjoy your time away xx
Mehefin well done to you for helping at the school xxHave good days all and take care xx11 -
Morning all from a very soggy and raw Mehefinland
Where has all this rain come from!!! The field is doing an impression of a paddy field and the nags are definitely not happy. Scoobymare was just standing out and shouting at the others, who typically took no notice until went across with some polos! Different story then. She is pointing her off fore and seems in some discomfort so I gave in and brought them all in to fresh bedding and a hay net. Gave her some pain killer and will keep an eye on her , as she is an old lady now and causes me many sleepless nights worrying about her. She will be 27 in April , and I know its a very good age for a horse which we had from 6months old as a foal at weaning. I can forsee a hard decision having to be made in the near future and I am dreading it. However, at the moment she is still eating, still wants to go out (albeit slowly) and seems ok other than the issue with her feet. A call to the farrier on Monday , and then go from there.
Our library volunteers have turned up trumps again! We are opening the library next week as a distribution point for the free school meals kids as the school is shut until at least after half term whilst they assess and hopefully repair the aftermath from the fire. We needed people to open up for the feeding team, and to close up afterwards and they have all come forward to help. The community in general has been terrific after such a traumatic experience for the staff and children. Year 5 and 6 will have to be absorbed somewhere in the school , although talking to the headteacher they do have space they can utilise. We have offered our facilities again, in case it doesn't pan out, or the damage is more extensive than first thought. All the food in the kitchen has had to be destroyed, with severe smoke damage, and the electricity supply being cut off, so the fridges and freezers were also wrecked. I don't see this being a quick job to get sorted myself.
Hugs and spoons to the poodles and those in need as always
Mehefin aka Derek

Chrisca50 said:@Gers I agree re tech, I just managed to make heads and tails of it at the right time, although I don't think I'm as advanced as you but that's what I've got my DS for. He's a Network Manager so he can sort out anything I can't do or give me a teaching session!I can't do hardware (the real techie stuff) but used to teach the MS ECDL - a certificated course covering Word, Excel, Access and sometimes PowerPoint). The innards of a PC are a mystery, I have a nephew for that!Well done @Coxy - you're a star.@DP1 - there's such a lovely selection of themed pyjamas these days, children look cute in some of them.Hope that you enjoy the 70th birthday party @WL - more cake.Keep warm @Izzy - that east wind is biting.Did you have a successful SS @TA.I've had my breakfast in the little cafe, and thoroughly enjoyed it. Then I picked up some things to take with me when I have my double trip away in two weeks - sweet stuff for my friends. Now I'm tucked up under the electric throw for a wee while. The sun is bright, the sky clear and blue and the temperature still hovering around a minus figure in the east wind.Hugs to all.12

@Gers When I worked at the OU we all had to do the ECDL qualification; I remember it well.
Our first choice for lunch was full so we went to a nearby pub. Now back home warming up and finishing off last night's rouladeStill raining - has been all morning.
