Hi all, here is my reply to the scare email I received from Martin tonight 7-03pm. I post this as the reply bounced with "remote server misconfigured" i.e.' Cheap energy club's). This was an 'offer too good to refuse' type email....On Tuesday 25 February, the new April to June Energy Price Cap most
homes (Eng, Scot, Wales) are on will be announced. It's predicted to
rise by 5-7% (1). If the data we have for you is right, you're on a
Price Capped Direct Debit tariff. If so, I'm concerned if you leave it
till then to sort it, it will be too late. So I wanted to speedily bash
out this note.
Good evening,
I have to say that your interpretation of my data in your MSE Cheap energy club is completely wrong.
I am on a fixed (not capped) EDF 1yr essentials V2 to October '25.
I
regularly check my position, and there has been no better deal
avaialble at any time since I locked this one in late last summer.
If
I do switch, then usually stay under the same supplier as this saves
changing DD details, and most suppliers only have a fag paper difference
between them. Timing to gain the best pricing, with a medium long term
view is far more important than supplier switch for me.
I normally use your comparison tool to present the facts, and make my own decision based on the output, and the supplier's data.
I
have often wondered if there was an incentive for comparison sites,
including MSE's to 'drum up' switching activity to make their (your) own
revenues, and your last paragraph is revealing in this respect.
Time
for full disclosure by MSE of how much it makes from supplier
incentives annually. Nothing wrong with earning a turn for good
information, but putting scare stories out on a Friday night doesn't
feel right, particularly when incorrect.

It only knows what you last fed it. It has no other way of knowing what tariff you are on.

I also got this misleading email,The club already know that I am already on a 12month fixed tariff so should not have been sent the emailI'm not accusing MSE of deliberately misleading but that they have made a mistake when selecting which customers to target and have not correctly selected only those who are still on price capped tariffs and should send out a correction once they have corrected the selection filters.
From the Energy Club website:

It has already caused confusion for one user, who logged on to see all tariffs are more than what she is currently paying, and doesn’t know what to do for the best. It’s also useful to point out these bugs so they can be fixed.Or email reworded if they really meant to send to everyone1

Well my fixed tariff does indeed end soon, so I filled in the form on the Cheap Energy Club and tried to submit it. Got an error message saying to check my connection and I can't get it to submit after many tries - message is"Oops!... I would guess that the scaremail worked and hence everyone is trying to submit like Right. Now.
It looks like something has gone wrong while talking to our servers.
Please check your connection and try again in a few moments"
