PS I am not sure if BG not supplying a 2 rate meter suitable for the premises is entirely in line with Ofgem's latest advice to suppliers posted by another user here recently.
I'm now with you in wondering if the mysterious "BG 2-rate meter" is just a 5-port (or 4-port with contactor) and the problem was that the installers had been sent out with a bog-standard 4-port?

I am affected by RTS switch off. I am with British Gas. They sent out 2 engineers to install Smart Meter. Both said I can't have one as I have two meters and two fuse boxes. They said I need a 2ratemeter. BG said they don't supply this and I will need to get my house rewired to accommodate smart meter.
There is no reason that one meter cannot feed two fuse boxes.  At worst case, the supplier might insist on an intermediate fuse box fed from the meter and then the two fuse boxes fed from the intermediate fuse box.

When you say you have two meters, does that mean you have two cut outs?  Is each cut out on a different phase?

Its the impression of no 2 rate meter that I really object to.  The 4 port could still in theory do twin rate.
It's easy for people like me to forget that you can get 4 port meters with no ALCS - that will bill economy 7.
Ironically that I saw first hand a year ago when looking at flats with niece - but as the op has twin rts already - it's very likely they have a restricted circuit based home - so didn't consider that in my answer.
But even then - the OP would potentially only need to have a timer and master contactor (like my smart meter ALCS driven Proteus 100A) fitted for economy 7 CU on a 4 port non ALCS meter - not a full set of new CUs.  Albeit with the time matching complications.
