Unknown brands of mobile phones

Ulefone and Blackview are just normal brands that make inexpensive devices. But let's tackle updates.
I wouldn't expect Android version updates. So no Android 14 to 15 for instance. Also the monthly security updates either won't happen or will be infrequent. However that isn't important really. Android is kept safe in different ways. Security patches, only getting apps from the play store are two. But don't forget about Play System updates and Play Services updates. These are applicable to the phones mentioned here and allow Google to update devices without any intervention from the manufacturer. That keeps older devices and cheaper devices safe.0 -

Bank apps allow old version of Android some 8+ Google Wallet is from 9 onward, if these were so inherently unsafe they would have much tighter restrictions.

The device we now call a phone, is by the comparison to that era a portable supercomputer with abilities that surpass every device on the planet at that point in time.MouldyOldDough said:
I remember the day when a phone was used to phone people and it was connected via piece of wire!!tonygold said:I can never understand friends of mine that spend up to £1k on a phone. I rarely spend over £200 and my latest Motorola G84 5g cost me £1uj80 from Amazon and does everything so well. A day and a half battery from a fairly heavy user, great screen, decent camera and bags of storage (256gb) and 8gb ram. Well recommended and decent software without too much j. What more do people need from a phone?
