Hi
I just bought a new PC and I want to install Microsoft Word for home use only. On the Microsoft website it is on sale for £159 which seems a bit steep.
Is there another reliable/reputable seller of Microsoft Word? After doing a Google search I see a company called electronics-e-shop.uk offering Office 2024 Professional Plus for £21 but I am not sure if this is a reputable company or if there is a catch somewhere.
Any help greatly appreciated.

Do you have to have MS word? You can get Libre office for free. It has a document writer and can open MS Word files and save them in Word format.Come on you Irons5

I've used www.electronicfirst.com/software? several times over a few years for the family PCs and never had an issue2

Gamers outlet, I've used them, software is legit and updates from Microsoft. Loads of versions available, this is one example

1. I have been using Libre Office (it's free) for years now. It displays my old Microsoft Word documents OK.
Why not down load Libre Office and give it a try:

2. If you must use Microsoft Office, there is always the online free version:

Do you want a one off payment or an annual subscription that has continuous upgrades?
There are plenty out there selling corporate and OEM licences for a fraction of the retail prices. Probably the vast majority get away with it but in principle were MS to workout you dont actually work for IBM or HMRC or whoever the licence really belongs to then it would be revoked but then you equally could just but another £5 licence and rinse and repeat.2 -

I'd also recommend Google Docs, I've been using the Google products for as long as I can remember and they've done everything I needed them to do - With the added benefit that storage is included.0 -

What you typically receive with that sort of deal is a student account with a fake school or college. MS gives student accounts to colleges for free, so there's a black market in setting up fake ones, taking an academic MS Office licence and then selling those free accounts to people. After a little while (might be weeks or months) MS realise what's going on and restrict the entire organisational licence. For example they stop you sending or receiving emails via the account, and remove your OneDrive access.I'm not saying that you shouldn't do it (although it's probably against MSEs T&C to promote it) but do understand what you're getting isn't quite what it says on the tin.
