Back Billing through Billing management company / buying group

Does anyone have any advice on back billing?

Electricity bills totalling £30,000 from 2021-2023 received in 2024 from buying group that NPower had not invoiced to them. We are a microbusiness but the buying group has a contract to get lower rates from NPower so they are claiming the rules do not apply as the account holder(the buying group) is not a microbusiness.

Any idea where we stand?

The billing should be subject to the terms of your contract with the buying group, and yes, as they are not a supplier then the back-billing rules do not apply.
With a bill of that size, surely you would have made some provision for this payment given the amount of power you were using and not being billed for?
