It could be far worse than that, if the gas smart meter's battery is failing it's likely to operate the Shut Off Valve before long.  :o
    No it's not.

    Who has that happened to?

I had a gas smart meter go dead and the gas supply no longer worked.

That’s interesting - if that was simply down to a flat battery it would be incredibly unusual as we have seen a huge number of flat battery threads here and you are the first person certainly as far as I have seen who has been left without gas. That said - was yours in standard credit mode?I have a feeling that we have heard of Prepay meters which may have done this, as the battery dying can leave them under the illusion that there is no available credit - normal or emergency.

I did have a flick back to see if you had a thread about it but couldn’t see anything - if you did could you link to it, it might be an interesting resource for the future!

Not sure I created a thread about it - just one day the gas / heating went off - got gas company out - they checked the supply and said it was all fine, but the meter had shut down and thats why the gas was off - the guy who came put what he called a "temporary" meter in to get the supply back on, and a few days later they took this out and changed that out for a new smart one.

Luckily enough I had an IHD in the house and that was showing the last reading of the meter that failed - they used that as the removal reading as they had nothing else.
