Morning folks, I parked in Edinburgh last week for an appointment - paid on RingGo for an hour and returned within half an hour to find a parking ticket on my windscreen.
Turns out, I had parked in a section for permit holders only - the parking next to me was for permit holders or valid pay and display! So I admit I was in the wrong but it was completely unintentional and there were plenty of pay and display spaces available!
The signage wasn't very clear, and the paint on the cobbles that noted it as permit only was extremely faded or else I'd have likely noticed it.
Any ideas on how to appeal this best and likelihood of winning it?

As we major on private parking tickets here, Free Traffic Legal Advice (FTLA) forum will be your best bet for council penalty charges. Register there but please note that a Hotmail address may not work - try using a throwaway Gmail account instead if you do have trouble registering, and post a new thread; here's your link:Read the sticky 'Read this first before posting your case' as well as reading through some of the other threads there ahead of posting your own details, to get the hang of what information they need from you in your opening post - but as a minimum you will need to post redacted photos/scans of all correspondence you've received from the council (both sides, if appropriate), as they need to see all the small print. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
