"I always knew what the balance should be as it is simple to work out from the opening and closing meter readings along with the payments made. I didn't stop until Octopus got to the same number as me."In theory you are right, that is where I thought I stood by using variable D/D's. Until they suddenly came up with their re-billing / back-billing project: 37 instances of accountancy retro-charges and credits left me totally confused and potentially way out of pocket. Needless to say I have challenged this and asked them to justify what they claim. It seems like the matter is in limbo at present until the next round. Unfortunately or otherwise this occurred mainly within the 12 month "limit" and it is unclear if I get any protection from "Licence Condition 21 B A".
Edit: I really don't think it is asking too much of a resourceful co like Octopus to make it quite clear on their web site what the state of one's account based on meter readings is - without having to derive it indirectly which can inevitably lead to misunderstandings. Imagine if Octopus was your bank or building society!Telegraph Sam
