In this case even with a POA the bank will likely need to speak/contact the father. I do agree a POA thouNasqueron said:
Alternative process would be OP should have got POA for a bed bound parent, there was inevitably going to be a problem needing ID before long. Halifax protecting a potentially vulnerable customer and not allowing someone else to ring through and demand it gets ignored are just covering their backs.sammyjammy said:Or make a formal complaint, they must have an alternate process for vulnerable customers, its a joke given how many branches they continue to close!

I don't know how other banks operate but back in 2022 the Nationwide only wanted to see the attorney(s) in branch to register a POA (that was already registered with the Office of the Public Guardian). At that time my dad was bed bound (well in hospital actually so mum would leave the house). We turned up and were fortunate a staff member was available to see us and the process took about 45 mins. However to be certain of registering a POA, an attorney would be best placed by making an appointment.0

POA is likely to take months not weeks, but it is important that you start the wheels turning now as you are likely to need it more and more in the future, especially if his being bed-bound is a permanent rather than a temporary thing.Synkey said:Applying for POA will take weeks
I applied for POA in August last year - it took four weeks to the day.1
