Uc migration and council tax

I have council tax support currently but what happens when switch from esa to uc with migration , do I tell council about the switch to uc is council tax support affected? Thanks

Yes you do need to tell then, they will probably ask for your first payment statement.
Some councils treat UC differently to legacy benefits and some people have seen an increase in what they need to pay towards CT.
Unfortunately we can't advise on individual cases from here as each area has a different set of criteria for Council Tax Reduction.0 -
Would I need to tell them when first apply for uc or when I get first payment then tell council tax0

When you apply but they will very likely receive notification from UC that you’ve claimed it.0

Universal credit does inform them but it doesn't hurt to phone them and get it noted that you have informed them also. Just remind them you're migrating across from ESA0
